Capacity Building and Orientation Programme for Media on Climate Change– GIZ 2018

CMS in collaboration with German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) held a series of media workshops in four states – Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Tamil Nadu - to facilitate a series of interactions on climate change adaptation with experts, scientists, policy makers with media professionals.

Six fellowship were provided to the media persons for writing on different issues of climate change after visiting the ground areas. It provided a great exposure to the journalists to connect the ground reality to the policies of climate change.

The main objective of the program was to orient the journalists and enhance their capacity and promote clear and authentic media coverage on climate mitigation and adaptation which can help communities as well as policy makers to act and pave path for a better, sustainable future.

The fellowship programme, as a part of this project, aimed at improving the quality of reporting on climate change related issues; increasing scientific accuracy of media professionals, effective communication to communities, strengthen the capacity of journalists writing on climate change issues, etc.
