Appeal and Quality of Dubbing of Jasoos Vijay & TV Spots, 2004

The study tested the appeal and quality of dubbed drama Jasoos Vijay and two TVCs in urban and rural locations of five states namely, AP, Kerala, Orissa, TN and WB, using qualitative method of data collection (FGDs) and analysis software (NUD*IST). The study looked into viewers' preference for Dubbed or Hindi version by analyzing different aspects like any influence of viewers' demographic profile on preferred version or understanding of it. Whether dubbing of a program attracts or distracts its viewers from watching as well as associating with it were some other aspects, studied in this study. Besides this the issues attached with quality of dubbing like language used, audibility and clarity of voice, modulation and synchronization of voices were also gauged.
