| Communication Needs Assessment Study for HIV interventions in Kerala, 2006. |

| The purpose of the study was to conduct a "Communication Need Assessment " for developing HIV/AIDS- IEC strategy framework for Kerala with reference to its unique cultural and demographic background. The study assessed the current level of Knowledge, Attitude, Values, Perceptions, Preferences and Practices related to HIV/AIDS/STI, exposure to IEC initiatives and its reach, communication gaps, barriers and motivational factors for adopting safe sex behaviour, present and preferred sources for communication. The study also analyzed the existing available IEC infrastructure, its adequacy organizational structure and operational linkages along with the media resources availability in the state. It recommended a comprehensive communication strategy and highlighted the specific requirements for different audience sub categories in terms of content process or procedure. The respondents for the study were CSWs, MSMs, IDUs, Truckers, Youth, adolescents (drop outs & school going), men and women, health service providers, PLWAs, care givers, people from tourism industry and employers. |
| Moving Ahead to Next Generation Communication Approaches: Assessment of Current Communication Efforts & Strategies for HIV/AIDS for NACP III Planning Team, 2005. |

| The study assessed the IEC approach or strategy of NACO, SACS and various key players in the domain of HIV/AIDS communication. The objective of this assignment was to take a stock of work and thinking so far and also to bring out recommendations for the planning of NACP III, which starts in 2006. Apart from scanning and reviewing the IEC strategy documents and approach papers of all the donors, multilateral and bi-lateral agencies and SACS the study also visited targeted intervention sites in four states for an in-depth understanding of the status of communication among the hi-risk population. The study suggested a strategy framework for NACP III communication. |
| An evaluation of radio and television programmes on HIV/AIDS sponsored by APSACS 2005 |

| The study was to appraise the specifically devised radio and television programmes on HIV AIDS with broad reference to the channel reach, slot allocation and frequency and experience gained through listening or watching as the case may be. This was conducted in three districts of AP, among 720 respondents comprising highly vulnerable population (adults, youth and adolescents) opinion and health service providers. The findings of the study provided directions towards review of the strategy in terms of channel reach, slot allocation frequency and content of the programmes. |
